Here is some of what is new with the THIRD EDITION of
Justice Blind? Ideals and Realities of American Criminal Justice by Matthew B. Robinson.
First, the materials in each chapter have been thoroughly updated. This includes adding new citations from the most recent scholarship available in each chapter, as well as removing some of the more dated material. I also updated all of the statistics in the text.
Second, I added even more material on terrorism and America’s war on terror, given its impact on our institutions of criminal justice. Discussions of terrorism and our response to it are found throughout the book. This area represents the most significant expansion of the book, as I have added an introduction and discussion about laws passed by Congress and executive orders signed by President Bush that have been created in the past two years.
Third, I wrote several new Issues in Depth at the end of the chapters. One pertains to the 2004 and 2006 elections. Another deals with drug war claims made by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Yet another presents expert opinion on the death penalty.
Fourth, I modified the figures and tables to each chapter, making the book more visually appealing and useful to the reader.
The main argument of the First Edition and the Second Edition remains intact, yet the Third Edition is much better organized and much more thoroughly supplemented with criminal justice data.
